“It's Not Easy Being Green (or Smol!)” a Standard One Shot in the Goblin Errands system. Led by Nona de Koning.

You have just joined a new family of goblins and want to make yourselves useful. Clearly, the best way to do so is by running errands for your new community: Buying vegetables at the market or procuring the services of a local wizard to get your wise leader unstuck from his chamber pot. Sounds easy, right? Well, unfortunately, you've got to contend with a world built for folk much bigger and stronger than you. And on top of that, you're both easily distracted and full of energy! Clearly a winning combination! Pick from various entertaining Goblin types like the Rascal, the Rambler, the Nibbler or the Whiz-Wart. Play to see how things go wrong, complications mount, and these ordinary, everyday tasks spiral into hilarious (mis)adventures. This game will be great if you like PbtA, goblins, being tiny, creative problem solving, shenanigans. This system is especially great for new players. The game runner is very familiar with this system. The game runner will provide playbooks ahead of time, so you can customize your character.

“Just Another Day” a Living World One Shot in the Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast system. Led by Nona de Koning.
Mar

“Just Another Day” a Living World One Shot in the Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Welcome to Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast, a sprawling old house outside time and space, where it’s always September 15th and there’s always room for a new visitor. The unusual blend of premade characters, modular rules, and legacy mechanics makes this TTRPG perfect for pick-up play: busy players can drop in and out without ever feeling lost, and anyone who wants to jump in can make a long-term impact without a long-term commitment. Yazeba's is yours to change. Perhaps Residents will leave or change, Guests will become far more important than you expected, or Journeys will take unexpected twists. Take control of one of the 7 long-term residents of the B&B or choose from a cast of 50 quirky guests, each of whom has their own ongoing storylines. Chapters can be played in any order and include things like lazy afternoons, frightful nights, insurmountable chores, and zany competitions, so every adventure is full of surprises. When we were little, we were taught that a story is a sequence of events with a beginning, middle and end. But that’s not how all stories work: some loop around on themselves, some are told out of sequence, and some never end. After we play one Chapter, we can play another without worrying too much about whether it came before or after the Chapter we just played, or how much time has passed. Think back on that prolific paperback series you may have once read: you might have missed a few issues, or read them out of order, but you were always able to figure out what was going on. That's what Yazeba's is going for! Chapters are short, so we may play more than one adventure during our session, swapping characters in between! If you've played Yazeba's before, feel free to let your gamerunner know which chapters you've played, so you can try some new ones.

This game will be great if you like more freeform roleplay, a push-and-pull between weaknesses and strengths, a cast of colorful characters, pickup style play, unlocking things, legacy boardgames. New players are welcome. The game runner is very familiar with this system. The game comes with pre-existing characters to pick from.

“The Missing Muffin Tin” a Standard One Shot in the Something Tookish system. Led by Nona de Koning.

“The Missing Muffin Tin” a Standard One Shot in the Something Tookish system. Led by Nona de Koning.

In Something Tookish, you play as a Halfling in a cozy little village, solving various mysteries. Not everything is a crime and there's nothing as gruesome as murder, oh no, they wouldn't do that! But petty theft or spats between neighbours also require someone to meddle solve them, right? And you're just the Halflings for the job! This game uses the Carved from Brindlewood framework. This means (just like in Brindlewood Bay), there is no canon solution to the mysteries. It's up to the players to come up with a clever way to tie everything together. However, there are plenty of clues to find and plenty of locals to meet! This oneshot is for 2-4 Halflings and will take about 3 hours. Our session pitch: "The village is buzzing with excitement, for the annual baking contest takes place today! Everyone is busy with preparations, for even those who are not entering a baked good into the competition have been pressed into service by someone who is. You arrive very early, only to find a mortified Belinda Sackville, who approaches you in a panic. Can you help find her missing muffin tin? She promised to outdo herself this year and keep up her winning streak!" This game will be great if you like PbtA, cozy mysteries, community, small-town village life, baking, poems, sing-alongs and Carved from Brindlewood, New players welcome. The game runner is very familiar with this system. The game runner will provide playbooks ahead of time, so you can customize your character.

“The Cure” a Standard One Shot in the Monster Care Squad system. Led by Nona de Koning.
Mar

“The Cure” a Standard One Shot in the Monster Care Squad system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Monster Care Squad is a non-violent RPG where you play as a member of an elite team of Monster Care Specialists. You work alongside your fellow specialists to investigate trouble, diagnose illnesses, and treat the horrible Wounds inflicted by the False Gold. How you will go about this will largely depend on the Monsters your group decides to treat. Monsters range in scale from titanic megafauna to little bigger than your hand and in damage potential from cataclysmic world enders to mischievous trouble makers. In the world of Ald-Amura, Monsters and Humans live in harmony with one another. Humans care for Monsters, providing food and shelter for them, while Monsters lend their power, magic, and might to humanity. But the peace between Humans and Monsters is now an uneasy one. Monsters are afraid of who might be infecting their kind with the False Gold illness, Humans are afraid of their cities being leveled. Everyone is on eggshells and the beautiful balance that typified Ald-Amura is on the brink of collapse. However, you will find no rules for intentionally inflicting pain on anyone or anything in this game, as the first rule of being a Monster Care Specialist is to Do No Harm. This is a PbtA-style game with three distinct phases of play: Diagnosis (what's wrong and how to treat it), Synthesis (making the right cure) and Symbiosis (applying the actual treatment). We'll go through one entire loop, meeting and treating a single Monster. This game will be great if you like PbtA, playing healers, caring for animals, distinct phases of play. New players are welcome. The game runner will provide pregenerated characters to pick from.

“Tavern Travels” a Standard One Shot in the Broken Cask Society system. Led by Nona de Koning.

The Broken Cask Society is a GMless RPG for up to 4 players where we venture across the wilds in search of the finest inns of the land! You create your character using various playbooks (archetypes), and trek through a fantasy world as a member of the Broken Cask Society. Some characters may care more about the journey, others are all about the drinks or care mostly about the food. Together our group will ford rivers, scale mountains, and blaze trails to the most famous (and infamous) inns, pubs, taverns, wineries, drinkeries, alehouses, and meaderies in the land. Through the use of random tables we'll find out what happens and create a wonderful, cozy story as we go. Prepare for the journey and travel across the land to explore a new inn. Once there, we'll take some time to feast & judge its offerings, before resting so we can do it all over again next time. This game will be great if you like PbtA, taverns, cozy fantasy stories, collaborative storytelling and random tables. New players are welcome. The game runner is very familiar with this system. “Urban Infestation” a Standard One Shot in the Sentinel Comics system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Did you ever want to be a superhero? Today's your day! Join the young teenage superheroes known as Team Daybreak. Play as decisive Headlong, ambitious Rockstar, supportive Muse, cosmic Aeon Girl or ghostly Muerto in the Sentinel Comics RPG! In this system, you creatively combine your superpowers with your ordinary qualities to try and be the best heroes you can be while living up to your principles. The Sentinel Comics RPG uses its own GYRO system, which focuses on quick comic book-style action, where teamwork is key and where your hero becomes more powerful as the situation gets more dire and twists get thrown your way! Today's adventure is called Urban Infestation, where our team is called in to help the hero team Dark Watch over in Rook City. In the wake of the global destruction from the OblivAeon event, Rook City is worse than ever, rocked with rifts of chaos magic causing all kinds of havoc (and let’s be honest, Rook City–the capital of crime and urban decay–wasn’t in great shape to begin with). Myriad, a villain composed entirely of crawling insects whose origin is linked to members of Daybreak, is taking advantage of these magical rifts to cause even more carnage. Being a new team of young inexperienced heroes, victory is not guaranteed! The Sentinel Comics RPG is its own superhero universe with a board game and podcast as well. But this features a team made just for the RPG so no familiarity with any lore is needed. Just be excited to play a teenage superhero and jump right in!

This game will be great if you like comics, superheroes, shenanigans, cinematic action, and creative roleplaying.

“Stonespire Marsh” a Standard One Shot in the Mausritter system. Led by Nona de Koning

“Stonespire Marsh” a Standard One Shot in the Mausritter system. Led by Nona de Koning

Stonespire Marsh, named for the eponymous boulder at its center, is home to reclusive, sun-basking lizards. One day, amidst the muck and mud, they uncovered an entrance to the Stonespire itself, and their demeanor changed. They opened their island, speaking to visitors about a ""Second Sun.” They promise sanctuary and shelter the lost and needy, ""The Second Sun brings warmth and prosperity to all it shines upon."" However, pilgrims that enter the Stonespire never seem to leave again. What are High Priest Zon and the lizard cult up to? It's time for your brave mice to crawl beyond the stone and investigate what's really going on in Stonespire Marsh!

<b><u>About Mausritter:</u></b>

The settled mice huddle together, hidden in their settlements in trees and burrows and walls, scraping and saving. A tenuous existence. You are not like those settled mice. By choice or by necessity you are an adventurer. You live by your luck, your smarts, your bravery. With your friends by your side, you will abandon the warmth and safety of the mouse settlements and venture forth into the dark and dangerous places where other mice do not dare to tread. There is great wealth to be found by those that are willing to take it.

It's a huge and dangerous world out there. It does not look kindly on a small mouse. But if you are very brave and very clever and just a bit lucky, you might be able to survive. And if you survive long enough, you might even become a hero amongst mice."

This game will be great if you like Redwall, The Rescuers, The Hobbit, Over The Hedge, Thumbelina, OSR style RPGs

We will build Level 1 characters in the session. Character creation is lightning-quick and involves just a few random rolls. We'll do this together at the start of the session. If you've played Mausritter before and want to bring an existing character, contact me upfront to discuss.

This session will be especially good for new players.

For the city to survive, it must move. Hammer of the Earth is an adventure game about humans who worship the last machine in a world ruled by vines. You are Outriders, individuals who ensure the fuel supply for Hammer. It's the last bastion of civilization in the form of a gargantuan train, each carriage housing ten thousand souls, navigating an endless network of tracks. If the train stops, they are all doomed. The Navigator (GM) picked you from your various factions to keep the train moving. Presented with a limited clock and numerous obstacles, can you get back in time? Success or failure, you must all work together, even if in the end only one of you is held responsible for the outcome... “V is for Going Viral“ - a Standard Oneshot in the City of Mist system. Led by Nona de Koning.

City of Mist is a noir mystery game that takes place in a modern city where legends are real people. Heroes, tricksters, and monsters are reborn inside ordinary people, regular Joes and Janes, who gain supernatural powers connected to their legendary alter-egos. The mystical veil of the Mist hides these miraculous powers from the other, sleepwalking residents of the City. It makes armor look like a flak vest and fire breathing like a cheap party trick or a gas leak explosion, so no-one ever knows about the legendary. Player characters in City of Mist are ordinary people in whom a legend has awakened. You play a unique combination of a real-life persona and a legendary Mythos, from a street-cleaner with the powers of the Monkey King to a fashion tycoon who is the incarnation of Aphrodite. Your life is a game of balance between magic and normality. Together with your ragtag crew of Rifts, you will hit the dark streets to uncover the insidious forces at play in your City and solve various mysteries. This time you'll try to solve a case called V is for Going Viral, a clever reference to both the presence of social media and an actual virus. A new infectious evil is operating in the City, using innocent civilians to spread itself. As more and more university students go missing, can you find the cause and put a stop to it once and for all?

This game will be great if you like solving mysteries, balancing normality and having powers, PbtA or Fate.

“Mythology: How The City Got Saved” a Standard One Shot in The Ultimate Micro-RPG Book system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Any journey can become a legend! Make up your own campfire story, myth or fairytale in Mythology. It's a GMless storytelling game where everyone collaborates to tell a new tale inspired by the images on a whimsical deck of tarot cards. Players make up their characters by mixing several cards, then take turns drawing cards to set up the initiating event and obstacles for other players to tackle. Together everyone will weave the story of a new legend and discover how the city got saved! No knowledge of tarot cards is needed and we'll use a non-traditional deck of images to inspire us. Mythology is part of The Ultimate Micro-RPG Book, an anthology of 2-page games. This means it's very rules-light and very easy to learn, but players should be comfortable using their own imagination without many rules to hold on to. Sky-High Ambitions - an Episodic One Shot in the Spectaculars system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Spectaculars is a game of comic book heroes and villains in its own entirely new comic book universe using a rules-light percentile % system. However, this universe is not predetermined, it takes more a "legacy board game"/living world approach. You start with knowing just a few basics and creating just a few characters. As more sessions are played, the setting will grow and change and become filled with memorable heroes, engaging villains, and stories of the clash between them. It's perfectly suitable for oneshots, but if you return to the game, you may see old locations and characters reappear. It's a living world, so what happens in a session can affect the universe we play in. Things like your reputation with the public, media and government are shared between games as well. Come play in our city just once or come back time and time again, the choice is yours! Today's adventure takes place in the Explorers of the Unknown branch of our comic book universe. This branch is themed around super science, exploration, and incredible threats of inhuman proportions. It hearkens back to silver age stories of astronaut families, inventors, mad scientists, alien invasions, and artifacts of unknowable science and incredible power. Join a team of Prodigies and come save the day! Your team is full of the brightest and boldest minds, heroes who showed great promise in making their mark on the world even before they gained their powers. Examples from popular comics include the Avengers® (Marvel) and the Justice League of America® (DC). When a band of evil minions invades a government building, taking hostages and setting up strange devices, everything points to the first steps of a villainous plan being set into motion. Can you save the city?

This game will be great if you like superheroes, a living world, rules-light systems, lots of freedom and creative problem-solving.

“The Rosewood Crown” a Standard One Shot in the Perils & Princesses system. Led by Nona de Koning.

Perils & Princesses is a game of gritty & pretty fairy tale adventure. Steel your resolve, gather your grace and sharpen your wits, and you might just live…Happily Ever After.

Play as Princesses who don't need saving, they'll be their own heroes! With magical Gifts from their Fairy Godmothers to aid them in their quest through the enchanted forest, they set out. With bright sword in hand, they faced threats and saved the realm time and time again. Can they do it once more? Once upon a time, there was a Princess named Elysia, who ruled over the humble village of Willowbrook nestled amidst the lush embrace of the forest. The villagers of Willowbrook revered Princess Elysia. She was their guardian. Her Rosewood Crown, a gift from her Fairy Godmother, gave her the ability to channel the powers of nature and protect the villagers from harm. But even in the most enchanting of tales, darkness has a way of slithering into the hearts of the unsuspecting. A cruel conjurer, Velesar, preyed upon the Princess's kindness. He stole the Princess's crown for his own nefarious purposes and broke her heart. Vanishing into the depths of the forest, the sorcerer left no trace behind, leaving the Princess bereft, her heart heavy with sorrow. Ages passed, and the crown was forgotten. The only relic of Princess Elysia is a moss-covered statue in the town square, with Elysia's mournful likeness carved in stone. A Princess without a crown. Recently, strange occurrences have been frightening the villagers. Crops suddenly rot. Groups of deer and rabbits flee the nearby forest. “While the Alchemist is Away” is a standard One Shot in the Mausritter system. Led by Nona de Koning.

The mouse kingdoms survive on the edge of collapse. A harsh winter or heartless cat could spell the end for all. The settled mice huddle together, hidden in their settlements in trees and burrows and walls, scraping and saving. A tenuous existence.

But you are not like those settled mice. By choice or by necessity you are an adventurer.

You live by your luck, your smarts, your bravery. With your friends by your side, you will abandon the warmth and safety of the mouse settlements and venture forth into the dark and dangerous places where other mice do not dare to tread. There is great wealth to be found by those who are willing to take it.

It's a huge and dangerous world out there. It does not look kindly on a small mouse. But if you are very brave and very clever and just a bit lucky, you might be able to survive. And if you survive long enough, you might even become a hero amongst mice. This time the adventure takes your mice to the once warm and lively home of an alchemist, which is now attended to by his familiar, Fluffy the cat... uh-oh!"

“The Lost Recipe” is a Standard One Shot in the Beakwood Bay system. Led by Nona de Koning

“The Lost Recipe” is a Standard One Shot in the Beakwood Bay system. Led by Nona de Koning

<b><u>About the game system:</u></b>

Beakwood Bay is a PbtA/Carved from Brindlewood roleplaying game for 2-4 ducks and a Keeper (GM), but not just any ducks. Inspired by Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics, in this hack of Brindlewood Bay you play as bipedal Mallards hired to hunt down treasure instead of solving mysteries. Beakwood Bay is a thriving port city inhabited by all sorts of anthropomorphic animals, where anything can happen and adventure is always on the agenda. The city’s aesthetics are rooted in the early 20th Century, but there are all manner of scientific advancements, such as an experimental rocketpad, a bustling university, and many factories. The oligarchs who control these technology-focused businesses often act as patrons for working ducks and adventurous mallards. No one comes to Beakwood Bay without a plan of how to leave richer. But there’s a curse that comes with this pursuit and many fall victim to the so-called Coin Fever. Ducks who are sitting on vaults of gold are frequently cruel and miserly in later years, pushing away family and friends to slavishly protect the gold they’ve acquired.

But for now, you are just a Middle Class Mallard who dreams of adventure with your friends. Your ducks work in service of the city’s wealthy benefactors, trying to make a fortune to call their own all while working to avoid the crippling greed and exploitation that is rampant among the city’s elite. Hindered by NPCs after the same treasure, players do their best to gather clues (represented as helpful information and tools that can be used to recover the treasure) before finally trying to retrieve it. There is no prewritten canon path or method, instead it's up to you to cleverly combine all that you've found to obtain the treasure! Will you succeed? Play to find out!

<b><u>Session pitch:</u></b>

Not a sound has been heard from Frederick Foie’s Fanciful Factory for more than three decades. The conveyor belts haven’t moved, not a spot of smoke has come from the chimneys, and no truck packed with candy has left the loading dock. The factory loomed over Beakwood Bay for nearly forty years when the eponymous candy maker and his assistant, a young duck named Quincy Quackling, left the building behind in pursuit of something they couldn’t find in their whimsical factory. Ever since, the building has been abandoned and a subject of enduring fascination for nearly every duck in Beakwood Bay. While many have tried to recreate the lost sweets, no one has come close to making any “Never Melt Sticky Stacky”. Rumor has it the lost recipe can still be found at the factory... Come find out if your Mallards can succeed in this adventure inspired by Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Willy Wonka!

“Parsely: Kringle Krisis” is a standard one shot in the Parsely system led by Nona de Koning

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Jolly Old St. Nick is in a bit of a jam. Explore the North Pole, make some new friends, and give Kringle back his jingle.

Before the first 3D video game came out, all video games were text-based adventures. These were simple scenarios with limited interactions. The player would type their actions into the game, and if it was a valid command, the game would respond with new content.

Players will take control of a character together and the GM will play as the parser and control the computer processing your commands. Players will alternate giving commands like GO NORTH, LIGHT LAMP or GET SWORD, which the GM will follow to the best of the imaginary computer's ability. There’s no limit to the number of people that can play and no limit to the fun. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to unplug from your computer and plug into Parsely! Don't forget to hit SAVE and be mindful, because 3 deaths means GAME OVER! ;-) "

This game will be great if you like choose-your-own-adventure books, 80s computer RPGs, and Super Mario.

Players will control a single nameless player character together as a group

“Monster of the Week - Punch the Elf off that Shelf” is a standard oneshot led by Nona.
Dec

“Monster of the Week - Punch the Elf off that Shelf” is a standard oneshot led by Nona.

There Are Monsters Out There Most people don't believe in monsters, but they're real. When someone finds out monsters are real, it's usually just before they get eaten. But some people are mean enough, smart enough, crazy enough, or hurt enough, that they live. And some of those survivors go on a crusade against the monsters. That's you. It could be that you make a stand and defend your hometown from everything evil that comes there. It could be that you take to the road and go hunt them down, wherever you can find them. It could be that you have magic powers to put you on an even footing. It could be that your name came up in prophecies thousands of years ago. No matter how or why, the one sure thing is that you aren't gonna go back to your old safe life. You and your fellow hunters aren't normal people; not even normal for monster hunters. You are the ones who stand out, larger than life and twice as badass. You can change the world – save it, destroy it, or alter it forever. One way or another, you will make a difference. Today's Monster of the Week mystery takes place around Christmas time! The premise: Elfon T. Shalf is pissed. He looks just like the Elf on the Shelf that parents use to scare children into behaving around Christmas time. That’s because he is the original. Someone saw him and used his likeness without his consent and they then sold the idea to make millions! Elfon has spent years tracking them across the country as they have fled from him but he believes he has finally found them. Now he’s going to exact his revenge in the middle of Santa’s Grotto at the local Christmas market. Can you stop him?

Great for people who like PbtA games, mysteries, monster hunting, and Christmas/seasonal games.

Playbooks are provided upfront, we can quickly make characters through some multiple choices found in those playbooks.

Players should have played some RPGs before

This game will be played in room #1 of the TTRPG Pickup Con Discord Server. Spectators are welcome in the Discord room.

“The Murder Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

“The Murder Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

BRINDLEWOOD BAY is a roleplaying game about a group of elderly women—members of the local Murder Mavens mystery book club—who find themselves solving actual murder mysteries in their quaint New England town. There is no canon solution to the mysteries, instead, players must collect and piece together many different clues and come up with a convincing theory, then play to find out if they are right! The specific mystery will be one not played at TTRPG Pickup Con before and is selected based on submitted lines & veils :)

The Mavens themselves are all elderly women whose partners have passed away and whose children have long flown the nest. Now, they’re enjoying their golden years in the picturesque town of Brindlewood Bay, keeping their homes the way they like, pursuing their hobbies, and finding comfort and companionship in each other. Their mystery book club has been meeting on the top floor of The Candlelight Booksellers every Saturday evening for the last ten years. The Mavens are particularly fond of The Gold Crown Mysteries series by Robin Masterson, featuring the globe-trotting super-sleuth, Amanda Delacourt (which only exists in-universe and not in our world).

The Mavens' special interest in these books has resulted in them becoming amateur detectives themselves, and by the time the game starts, they have helped local police solve several high profile crimes. Sometimes people approach them to get their help on a case, but usually, the Mavens just stumble onto it—much to the chagrin of the authorities, who almost always resent their meddling.

There are some supernatural elements in play in the background, but those will need to be uncovered through repeated plays and aren't a part of this oneshot. There is also a meta-level to the setting, where the Mavens are actually characters in a TV show that the players are watching. If there is enough interest in it, the gamerunner is willing to offer this system at future cons in a West-Marches approach where both of these elements will feature more prominently.

This game will be great if you like cozy murder mysteries, PbtA games, collaborative storytelling, improv, Murder She Wrote, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, One Of Us Is Lying Players should build characters ahead.

Characters who played 0-2 sessions (this system has no levels). Character creation is a really quick multiple choice process. The gamerunner will contact players in advance to share handouts (rules reference & character sheets) and make your selections

Examples of potentially triggering content could include terminal illness, mental illness including mentions of attempted suicide or other self harm, bullying, substance abuse (alcohol/drugs), abandonment, kidnapping of humans or pets, imprisonment and infidelity. Not all of these are part of the same mystery, so I will work around your boundaries to provide a great game for everyone.

“For The Dungeon - Minions and Mayhem” is a standard one-shot led by Nona

For the Dungeon! is a short comedy role-playing game that takes inspiration from PbtA and Fate. You play as minions protecting their dungeon. They serve without question and seek to accomplish their leader’s goals to the best of their abilities. Often this means venturing out beyond the dungeon to spread their agenda. Charging into danger with reckless abandon and causing mayhem is all in a day’s work. Characters are quite freeform and have no stats, but instead have traits. These Traits should be short phrases that describe your character’s Talent, Tool, and Motivation. You also get Shiny to buy any sort of item you can imagine may be useful and a special Perk to make you stand out from the pack. Players should attempt to embody what it means to be a minion. Feel free to explore wild and crazy ideas when it comes to your character. This game is designed to lean into the ridiculous. It has a strong emphasis on improvisation, but offers plenty of tools to help you with that!

This game will be great if you like PbtA, Fate, comedy, improv, minions and mayhem.

Players should figure out their character concepts ahead of time, the game runner will prompt you a day or two ahead of time to do so.

Wilderfeast - You Are What You Eat

Wilderfeast - You Are What You Eat

Hunter. Ranger. Keeper. Chef. In Wilderfeast you are a wild-eater, better known as a wilder. You are human, though you might not look like it, as with every hunt you incorporate part of another monster into yourself. The first among your kind dedicated their lives to containing the frenzy, the incurable curse that amplifies hunger, pain, and rage in a vicious cycle. But despite their best efforts, the frenzy now circulates with virulent speed across the One Land. Hope remains that you can save the monsters threatened by the supernatural disease, but it is a hope that requires diligence and sacrifice. Wilders travel in packs, but they are not a formal order. No central authority or hierarchy governs them, and each is free to decide both what harmony with nature means and also how they hope to achieve it. Some wilders live like cave-dwelling beasts, clad in rugged furs and eschewing all polite company. Others act like wandering knights, adored by some and hated by others, their artful mutations forever separating them from those who have not sworn their oaths. But though they follow no orders, all wilders still perform the same duties. They spend their time between hunting monsters that cannot be saved and helping those that can. As the curse-virus called the frenzy spreads, the wilders fight to maintain harmony between humanity and nature. They kill the creatures they must nurture the ones they can, and consume the ones they fail to save. In doing so, wilders transform into half-human chimeras, for like all monsters, they derive their power from the One Law of the One Land: You are what you eat.

“Gift of the Sea” a Standard One Shot in the Trophy Dark system. Led by Nona de Koning.

"Trophy is a strongly collaborative storytelling game with horror themes throughout. It is about a group of treasure-hunters on a doomed expedition into a natural biome that doesn’t want them there. The game tells the story of the physical and mental descent of the treasure-hunters as they move deeper and deeper into their location. Their journey will ultimately bring them to ancient ruins that hold the treasure they seek, and the monstrous entities which now dwell there. This is not, however, a hopeful story of brave and daring adventurers slaying dragons and dragging bags of gold with them back to town. This is a horror story of entitled pillagers meeting tragic ends. It is very likely that all the treasure-hunters will die or — at best — be permanently scarred and haunted by their expedition. Can you trust your friends? Can you even still trust yourself? In this game, Trophy isn't the treasure you seek, but nature trying to take you as its trophy instead.

Trophy Dark is designed to be played as a oneshot with small groups of 2-3 player characters. Single oneshot adventures are called Incursions. Today's incursion is called Gift of the Sea, where the following lures in your characters...

Beyond the forest lies a jagged rocky coast where, for generations now, a small seaside village has observed the rites of Greentide. Each spring, as the first green shoots emerge, village elders weave sapling branches and seaweed into an effigy in the likeness of a young woman. The sculpture is filled with gifts before it is cast into the waves as an offering to the Queen of Tides, along with prayers for a bountiful catch and protection from storms.

This ancient tradition harkens back to an age when the ancestors would crown a young woman as the Tide Queen and offer her to the sea in sacrifice. Chieftains and princes would travel far to attend the ceremony, pledging gold, jewels, and the finest of crafts. To this day, local fisherman never leave shore without paying her their respects—for the tide, they say, must have its due.

Strange as the customs of an isolated village may be, it has not escaped the notice of keen treasure hunters such as yourselves that centuries of offerings and shipwrecks have left a great hoard of untouched riches beneath the waves. You know of the island offshore where the offerings are tipped overboard. You have heard rumors of a cove there, just visible at low tide. Superstitious villagers avoid it, but you know better than to believe their tales."

This game will be great if you like collaborative storytelling, horror We will build characters in session.

Characters will be created together. This can be done in mere minutes, assisted by random tables and dice rolls. As for gameplay, you don't need to know the system, but you do need to be comfortable with roleplaying, thinking on the spot/improv, and contributing to collaborative setting elements instead of just playing your character.

Players need to have played some RPGs.

Players will be learning this system together with the game runner.

“Battle of the Bands” a Standard One Shot in the Sentinel Comics RPG system. Led by Nona de Koning

“Battle of the Bands” a Standard One Shot in the Sentinel Comics RPG system. Led by Nona de Koning

"Did you ever want to be a superhero? Today's your day! Join the young teenage superheroes known as Team Daybreak 😄 Play as decisive Headlong, ambitious Rockstar, supportive Muse, cosmic Aeon Girl or ghostly Muerto in the Sentinel Comics RPG!

In this system, you creatively combine your superpowers with your ordinary qualities to try and be the best heroes you can be while living up to your principles. The Sentinel Comics RPG uses its own GYRO system, which focuses on quick comic book style action, where teamwork is key and where your hero becomes more powerful as the situation gets more dire and twists get thrown your way!

Our adventure is called Battle of the Bands, where Rockstar has been invited to play as the opening act for a new band called Helfyre. But what is meant to be a fun concert quickly takes a bad turn. Now it's up to team Daybreak to try and save the day! Play to find out if they succeed 😮

Battle of the Bands is a fairly lighthearted scenario, but there are still real things at stake. Being a new team of young inexperienced heroes, victory is not guaranteed! While the Sentinel Comics RPG takes place in the same universe as their matching boardgame, it's an alternate timeline so no familiarity is needed. Being a brand new team, there is no elaborate world lore you'll need, just be excited to play a teenage superhero and jump right in :D

Like all the games I run, I will teach you everything you need to know as we play! For those who prefer reading ahead or reading along when being taught, a short rules reference will also be provided.

This game will be great if you like comics, superheroes, shenanigans, cinematic action, creative roleplaying

The game runner will provide characters.

Pregenerated characters from team Daybreak will be provided to pick from.

This session will be especially good for new players. New players are welcome.

“Dad Overboard” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay system. Led by Nona de Koning

“Dad Overboard” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay system. Led by Nona de Koning

<b><u>BRINDLEWOOD BAY </u></b> is a roleplaying game about a group of elderly women—members of the local Murder Mavens mystery book club—who find themselves solving actual murder mysteries in their quaint New England town. <b>There is no canon solution to the mysteries, instead players must collect and piece together many different clues and come up with a convincing theory, then play to find out if they are right!</b>

This evening, just as their book club meeting is ending, the Mavens are approached by Brindlewood County’s chief law enforcement officer, Sheriff Wyman Dalrymple. He tells them that, several nights ago, a wealthy financier, Albert Krause, was dragged out of the bay, dead. Mr. Krause and his family were on a yachting vacation and their boat is presently anchored a quarter mile from shore. Those on the boat assert Mr. Krause was drunk and simply fell overboard, but Sheriff Dalrymple suspects foul play. He hasn’t been able to turn anything up and begrudgingly asks them for help. Time for the Mavens to bring out their amateur inner detectives once again!

There are some supernatural elements in play in the background, but those will need to be uncovered through repeated plays and aren't a part of this oneshot. There is also a meta level to the setting, where the Mavens are actually characters in a TV show that the players are watching. <b>If there is enough interest in it, the gamerunner is willing to offer this system at future cons in a West-Marches approach where both of these elements will feature more prominently.</b>"

This game will be great if you like cozy murder mysteries, PbtA games, collaborative storytelling, improv, Murder She Wrote, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, One Of Us Is Lying

Players should build characters who played 0-2 sessions (this system has no levels) Character creation is a really quick multiple-choice process. The game runner will contact players in advance to share handouts (rules reference & character sheets) and make your selections.

New players are welcome. Players need to have played some RPGs.
