Beak, Feather & Bone: Map of Society

A game in the Beak, Feather & Bone, led by Nona.

Beak, Feather, & Bone is a collaborative worldbuilding tool and a competitive map-labeling RPG. Its original setting comes from the Ravenfolk myth but works with any environment.

For this one shot, we'll skip past the lore and play as humans in a medieval type of town (which may include mythical/fantasy/magical elements) to keep the game the most accessible to everyone. In this game, we are all a player; there is no GM. You do not control a single character but speak as the voice of an entire faction within the city.

Starting with an unlabeled city map, players are assigned community roles before taking turns claiming and describing locations. They draw from a standard 52-card deck to determine a building's purpose and then tell its beak (reputation), feather (appearance), and bone (interior).

As buildings are claimed, a narrative for the town and its inhabitants emerges, including major NPCs and shifting power dynamics. Will your faction take the seat of power at the end? Play to find out!

This game will be great if you like A Quiet Year RPG, Game of Thrones (but less deadly), worldbuilding, and collaborative storytelling.

There are no individual characters, but everyone can claim a faction/community role (10 options). Please figure out which faction(s) appeal to you most in advance. Ideally, submit to be a top 3 ahead of time. Choices are Clerics, Elders, Farmers, Mages, Merchants, Miners, Ranchers, Soldiers, Strangers, and Thieves.

This game will be great for new players.
